Why You Can’t Put a Price Tag on Your Child’s Vision
Why You Can’t Put a Price Tag on Your Child’s Vision

Your child’s vision is critical and protecting it during everyday activities, especially those outdoor or athletic, is something to pay close attention to as a parent or caregiver. When left to their own decisions, school-aged children will often opt to not wear protective eyewear when playing sports, let alone a helmet, due to a number of reasons. Therefore, it’s up to you to ensure your child’s eyes and vision is kept safe regardless of obstacles.
When it comes to Eye Protection, Don’t Settle for the Cheapest Solution
The fact is, sports-related eye injuries are the biggest cause ofblindness in children, andaccording to a survey by Prevent Blindness of America, in 2015 there were over 31,000 eye injuries in the United States due to sport-related activities. This contributed to the more than $100,000.00 spent by parents on their children for doctor visits and eye injury-related surgeries.
Effective, top-level protective sports eyewear is of the utmost importance to your child’s safety to ensure they do not become one of these statistics. Do not settle for less-than-optimal protective glasses, such as the following:
Traditional Prescription Glasses
Traditional prescription eyewear can’t protect your child’s eyes during physical activity, even if you can get them to wear their glasses (kids often feel their glasses make them feel dorky or geeky when playing sports), as the lenses are typically not impact-resistant and the frames can easily break, causing an additional hazard to eyes.
Sunglasses and Commercial “Sports Goggles”
Two relatively cheap eye protection solutions for kids playing outdoor sports are sunglasses or “sports goggles” from a sporting goods store. However, these options typically do not have impact-resistant lenses either, and the goggles do not meet the minimum standards for eye protection as defined by the ASTM F803 guidelines.
If your child is not wearing certified, impact-resistant eye protection when they are playing sports, you’re gambling with their vision. Don’t let them become part of the eye injury statistic. Rather, keep them fully protected and ensure they can play their favorite sports without risking the health of their eyes.
The Liberty Sport Solution for Youth Eyewear
The good news is, there is a solution! Liberty Sport offers protective, affordable and stylish sports protective eyewear for kids (adults, too!) that meet or exceed the ASTM F803 standards for impact-resistant eyewear.
Variety of Styles, Optimal Comfort and Prescription/Rx Supported
Our selections of youth protective eyewear come in many styles and a variety of colors to boost the coolness factor for kids while providing the highest level of protection possible.
Kids can choose between traditional temples with enhanced ear wraps at the end, or those with an elastic wrap-around for enhanced comfort during play. Most prescriptions are supported to pair with one of our frame models for optimal fit and cool, comfortable eye protection.
Don’t let your children risk their eyes while playing sports, and don’t gamble with becoming another sports eye injury statistic.
